Dr. Bochen Jia is a Assistant Professor in Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He received his Ph.D. in Human Factor and Ergonomics, Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech in 2013, MS in Human Factor and Ergonomics, Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech in 2007, MS in Engineering Mechanics at Beijing Institute of Technology in 2003.He works on special ergonomics issues related to special population, such as aging and obese workers. Armed with strong research advantages for the automobileindustry in Michigan, his major research efforts focus on ergonomic issues associated with driver’s and road users’ behaviors under complex traffic conditions with advanced technologies, such as connected and automated vehicle technologies. Dr. Bochen Jia research interests are human factor research and data analytics with applications in intelligent transportation system, human-robot collaboration, and industrial ergonomics.

Dr. Yeganeh Hayeri is an Assistant Professor in the School of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology. She received her dual Ph.D. from the Departments of “Engineering and Public Policy” and “Civil and Environmental Engineering” at Carnegie Mellon University. Following her doctoral work, she joined the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral fellow. Prior to her doctoral work, she worked as a transportation engineer focusing on operation and planning projects. Dr. Hayeri received her M.Sc. from UC-Berkeley and her B.Sc. from University of Nebraska. She is an appointed member of the Transportation Research Board’s “Vehicle Highway Automation Committee”. She sits on highly technical reviewing panels such as National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP). Dr. Hayeri’s research interests include behavioral modeling, optimization, human factors, socio-technical systems, risk analysis and mitigation, connectivity and automation, and impact analyses within energy and transportation domains.

Dr. Miadreza Shafie-khah is a Assistant Professor and Senior Researcher at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilha, Portugal, where he has a major role of coordinating a WP in the 2.1-million-euro national project ESGRIDS (“Enhancing Smart GRIDS for Sustainability”). He received his first postdoc from UBI, Covilha, Portugal in 2015, while working on the 5.2-million-euro FP7 project SiNGULAR (“Smart and Sustainable Insular Electricity Grids under Large-Scale Renewable Integration”). He received his second postdoc from the department of Industrial Informatics, University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy in 2016. He was awarded as Top 4 Young Scientists in the area of Physical Sciences from the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN) in 2017.He was considered one of the Outstanding Reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, in 2017, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, in 2014 and 2017, and one of the Best Reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid in 2016. Dr. Zhijie Dong is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Texas State University. She received her Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering at Cornell University in 2015, MS in Civil Engineering at Columbia University in 2012 and BS in Architectural Engineering at Nanjing University in 2011. Before joining Texas State University as an Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering, she interned at CSX Transportation as an Operations Research Intern, and worked for FedEx Freight as a Senior Operations Research Analyst. Dr. Dong’s primary research interest is the development of mathematical models and solution methods for use in the management of complex systems. She has particular interest in systems that can be represented mathematically as networks, including transportation and logistics systems, civil infrastructure networks and project networks.
